Sonnet One (2005)

Shall I compare thee to a day in winter?

Lovely as freshly driven snow

Great beauty atop an icy center

Wish to embrace you all, but better I should know

A light is blinding upon your surface

Forcing me to squint into order to see

The bright deflection seems to be on purpose

Your radiations are too much for me

But that beauty doesn’t last for long

In time it begins to fade away like tears

Realizing wanting you was wrong

When the ugliness beneath appears

But as long as my mind continues to be

I can always go back to to my memories
